Advocate for yourselves…
Being a biological female almost certainly requires more in-depth reading about and understanding our bodies, how they function, and debunk all the myths we’ve been told throughout the history, society, and even by our medical doctor practitioner….
Now why I am making this rant, and more specifically about hormone replacement therapy or HRT!
The number of times that women have been subjected to gross injustice, and have been absolutely overlooked or misunderstood by the mainstream medical community, to this very day, is outrageous. Let’s take a look at the women’s health initiative program, and how its findings are still being held as fact by the majority of medical practitioners. W/o going into too much details, the very broad conclusion of the study was as following. In the group of women who received Estrogen, an increased incidents of coronary heart disease and breast cancer was observed! The trail was cut short, due to supposed increase risk factor, blah blah blah. What happened after the announcements of the results of this single study has been nothing short of life changing for women.
Though, I highly recommend reading Dr. Peter Attila’s book (Outlive in which he goes into depth explaining how this single study impacted the lives of women in. a negative way, and has harmed them by demonizing the HRT). As he puts it: “The sum total of lives that have been saved due to less breast cancer as a result from the lack of HRT for the past 20 years is exactly ZERO!”
Now why it is important to have the option of HRT. Our bodies are such an intricate endocrine system, where each and every single hormone is crucial for it to run smoothly. A healthy dosage of hormone in one’s body, may result in reduction of osteoporotic fracture, neurodegenerative disease such as dementia (which again women have been overlooked simply because they live longer than men on average and as a result it’s ok for them to have these diseases!!!!), colon cancer, endometrial cancer, and the list goes on and on. I am not even going to mentioned how significantly the quality of life canoe improved when supplemented with the right dosage of HRT.
Now, knowing what your hormone levels are is SO important, and knowing where you are in your womanhood journey can save you so much pain down the road. I encourage all the women in my life, to read more literature or try to expose yourself to more physician who keep up with the recent studies and research, advocate for your health, and do not brush off your symptoms as just “maybe it’s that time of the month”.
In mainstream media, there is little to no information on the onsets of menopause, tests that cane used to know more without suffering in silence for years, and/or way to improve one’s quality of life by simply balancing what’s out of balance.
I have read, and heard that women can experience menopause sympstoms as early as mid-30s.
